Hortatory Exposition

Hortatory exposition is a type of spoken or written text that persuade the listener or reader that something should or should not be the case.

The generic structure of hortatory exposition:
~thesis: state an issue of concern

~arguments: give reason for concern, lead to recommendation.

~recommendation: state what ought or ought not to happen.

Hortatory exposition are most used in letter to the editor, speeches, advertisement, plead in a trial case.

Hortatory exposition always uses present tense.
